If There Are No Fish

If there are no fish

even a great fisherman

casts in vain

unless the beauty

is in the deed

and not the outcome.

 

But doesn’t hunger

have the final say

in matters such as these?

 

Because it is our fate

to never truly know,

we can only

keep on casting

into the deepest part

of the pond.
